When the winery was constructed in 1996, the grapes, which had been planted in 1984, were sold to nearby Long Island Wine Growers. With a new name, Laurel Lake Vineyards, the vineyard flourished rapidly and joined the North Fork wine world. The winery expanded and thrived under the watchful guidance of winemaker Juan Sepulveda, who has continued to serve as head winemaker for Ev&Em. The name was changed to Ev&Em Vineyards in honor of Dan Abrams’ children, Everett and Emilia after he purchased the property in 2020. With the intention of creating world-class wines that Dan and his business partner Vanessa Price think Long Island is capable of producing, the tasting room and winemaking facilities were refurbished in 2021. Dan was enthralled with the estate’s location, scenic splendor, and unadulterated quality on his first visit. Dan is driven to introduce the wines of his cherished home state to wine enthusiasts nationwide and internationally, having been inspired by the potential of Long Island Wine Country.

Originally, all of the 40 acres on our land were planted with Chardonnay. Plantings have grown over the last forty years to include a wide range of traditional French red, rosé, and white wine varieties. Currently, we have over 20 acres under vine—some of our vines are over 40 years old—that provide exquisite and concentrated fruit that goes into making some of the best wines Long Island has to offer. Under the new ownership, the vineyard was immediately committed to working toward certified sustainability, and it is being planted entirely in accordance with sustainable techniques.
